Audience
This course is designed for people who are familiar with the function of an AR-15 platform semiautomatic rifle and would like to learn more advanced techniques.
Course Description
This course will introduce the student to techniques required to use a semiautomatic rifle in a defensive environment. These techniques include firing multiple shots, emergency reloads and understanding the balance of speed and precision and how it effects the firing accuracy of the rifle.
Prerequisites
Ar-15 I or approval of a Best Shot Instructor
Objectives
- Demonstrate an understanding of the four universal safety rules as well as the four additional AR-15 specific training rules
- Review & demonstrate the basic shooting fundamentals of an AR-15, including;
- proper stance,
- grip (four points of contact),
- sling use,
- loading and clearing ammunition, &
- trigger control.
- Identify the advantages & disadvantages of using an AR-15 around the house for home defense.
- Exhibit proficiency in the safe, competent & effective use of an AR-15 during range drills
What to Bring
Firearm and ammunition
- An AR-15 style rifle (no carbines) WITH optic mounted and a sling attached.
- A minimum of 300 rounds of ammunition in at least 3 magazine
Equipment
- A magazine pouch is recommended but not required
- Hearing and Eye Protection (Soft ear plugs under electronic muffs are recommended)
- Appropriate clothing and a crew neck style shirt
